Title: Accounting Associate

Mandatory skills:

Performs complex clerical accounting duties involving routine and non- routine calculations and analysis, reconciliations, verifications, and postings while ensuring accuracy and validity in the accounting processes. Requires limited work direction. Duties: Maintains and processes accounting transactions to assist with accurate financial reporting. Reconciles the more complex accounts, identifies discrepancies found, and provides the corrective action to be taken. Assists with month end close activities and preparing financial exhibits. Communicates with others within the department or outside of the work area (employees, customers, suppliers) in order to exchange information and to answer questions or resolve issues. Prepares various financial reports.

- Process and analyze time, earnings, and deductions/withholdings on a weekly basis to derive accurate net pay in compliance with Human Resource/unit policies and union contracts
- Independently analyze and resolve complex payroll issues
- Communicate with employees of various levels regarding pay questions, processes, and training
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with peers, unit partners, and other functional areas

Required Skills:

- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical skills and experience with complex data analysis
- Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to quickly learn multiple Payroll/IT software systems
- Ability to approach change with a positive mindset
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Advanced experience using Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word

Desired Skills:

- Knowledge of payroll and payroll tax
- Experience maintaining confidential information
- Proficiency with SAP
- Experience using IBM/Host applications, such as TSO (Time Sharing Option) and RMDS (Report Management and Distribution System)


Associate or bachelor's degree in a business or accounting discipline or equivalent experience

Shift Information:

- 40 hours per week. we flex our time around payroll processing needs
- This position will initially be an onsite position. The manager will allow it to move to a hybrid position once the individual has completed training and has demonstrated the ability to perform the job independently.
