As a member of the Senior Management Team, the COO is responsible for the development of the organization's operations strategic goals. In addition to the strategic components, the COO will be charged with developing and implementing operations policies and procedures and overseeing management of personnel in operations support, information technology support, debit card operations, facilities management, and branches. While overseeing branches and departments, the COO will hold people accountable while utilizing coaching and counseling skills to keep employees engaged. A thorough understanding of operations is critical to the success of this role, including IT, data processing, branch management, facilities, security, contracts, etc.

  • Executive oversight of core processing system and internet banking system.

  • Serve as member of management team to ensure efficient and integrated bank operations.

  • Serve as member of Technology Committee.

  • Act as Security Officer.

  • Conduct and serve as lead for operations analysis related to profitability, projects, trends/ideas, and innovations.

  • Oversee back-office departments to ensure continuity with branch network.

  • Identify operations training needs and assist in coordinating/conducting training as needed.

  • Equipment purchasing at all locations.

  • Oversee data processing, courier/maintenance operations staffing. Ensure that adequate staffing levels are maintained through department supervisors. Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals. Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach.

  • Answer risk management and general management questions for staff at all locations related to operations procedures.

  • Provide support and oversee any security and fraud complaints.

  • Responsible for maintenance and replacement of office equipment (specifically data processing and teller areas) and furniture at all locations.

  • Ensure IRS Form 1098s for contract collections and corrections are completed.


  • Bachelor's degree preferred; 10-15 years related experience in banking

  • Prior participation in community/civic organizations preferred

  • Continuous on-the-job training with respect to policies, procedures and various regulations

  • Community bank

  • 8+ years management experience

  • Works closely with IT
