required; ACLS recommended Must-Have: - ICU/Intermediate (Stepdown)
experience with a nurse to patient ratio of 3 to 1 or 2 to 1. -
Experience with trach and ventilated patients. - Ability to titrate
drips. Description: This position involves caring for patients with
a wide range of medical conditions, including but not limited to
COPD, CHF, diabetes mellitus, sepsis, renal issues, DKA, alcohol
withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, and other respiratory conditions.
Nurses will manage patients with tracheostomies and those on
ventilators, as well as handle chest tubes, G-tubes, NG tubes, PICC
lines, and central lines. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 3:1, and
nurses are expected to titrate drips, including Cardene, Cardizem,
Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Heparin, and low-dose or infrequent
Vasopressors. A charge nurse will be available unless staffing is
not ideal, in which case they may take on patients as well. There
are patient care technicians available on each shift with a ratio
of 2 PCTs per shift who may take up to 10 patients each if the unit
is full. All patients are monitored using bedside Phillips
monitors, and tele techs will interpret strips for confirmation by
the nursing staff. The scheduling consists of 12-hour shifts from 7
PM to 7 AM. Nursing staff is required to work every other weekend
and every other holiday rotation. Travel nurses will float first,
with possible assignments in other stepdown or general medical
areas, as needed. Scrub color is flexible and any color is
acceptable. Unit-specific orientation consists of time spent
learning the electronic health record system and additional
training with nursing educators and fellow staff. 5 Benefits of
