Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Med-Surg Acute
position requiring prior dedicated neuro unit and Level 1 trauma
experience, with no first-time travelers considered. Details -
54-bed Neuro Med-Surg Acute unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain
tumor, head injury, and general neuroscience cases, with some
medical overflow - Day shift nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4–5; night
shift is 1:5–6 - PCTs are available on all shifts (days/evenings
1:9–10, nights 1:10–12) - Charge nurse coverage 24/7 (does not take
assignment unless staffing requires) and house supervisor available
24/7 - RNs are required to titrate drips, including heparin drips
based on PTT - House-wide telemetry monitored by monitor techs; RNs
are not required to read their own strips (Philips monitors) -
High-flow oxygen used occasionally for stable patients - Epic EMR
used in this position - 12-hour night shifts - Every other weekend
required (both Saturday and Sunday) - Every other holiday required
- No on-call or standby requirement - Float rotation with general
unit staff; if floated outside the unit, assignment is limited to
skills within competency and paired with a trained nurse
Requirements - Active IL RN license required; pending licensure
will not be accepted - Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications
required; pending certifications not accepted - Minimum 1 year of
RN experience required - Prior experience on a dedicated neuro unit
required - Level 1 trauma experience required - Previous travel
nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be
considered - Heparin drip titration experience required - 2
professional references required: one supervisor from within the
last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3
years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
Additional Information - Orientation consists of approximately 3
days total: 2 days of computer and unit-specific training with an
educator, plus 1 day of patient care with a preceptor - This is a
drug-free campus; a negative drug screen is required - No scrub
color requirement; tattoos must be covered while on duty; only ear
piercings permitted - Scheduling requests are considered and
accommodated when staffing allows - Local candidates are welcome to

facility are subject to a local pay rate - All licenses and
