Registered Nurse (RN) | Neuro Location: Peoria, IL Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,344 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/30/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Neuro Med-Surg Acute Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience required License: Active Illinois license required or confirmation that application process has been initiated Certifications: BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Must have level 1 trauma experience. Must have previous travel experience. Must have prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit. Must have heparin drip experience. Description: This position involves working in a 54-bed neuro med-surg acute unit. Patient and nurse ratios are 1:4-5 during the day shift and 1:5-6 during the night shift. The common diagnoses include stroke, spine surgery, seizures, brain tumors, head injuries, and general neuroscience cases, along with some medical overflow. Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips, including heparin titrated based on PTT. A charge nurse is available 24/7 and typically does not take assignments unless necessary to maintain nurse-patient ratios. The unit has nurse aids and patient care techs with varying ratios. Registered Nurses will troubleshoot respiratory equipment as needed, but high flow usage is rare. Telemetry techs are present, and nurses do not need to read their own strips as they are managed house-wide. Shifts are 12 hours in duration, with scheduling attempts made to accommodate requests. There is a requirement to work every other weekend. Holidays are also required every other year. Registered Nurses will float in rotation with staff, but only undertake skills they are competent to perform when moved outside of their unit. There is no specific scrub color requirement, but tattoos must be covered while on duty, and only ear piercings are permitted. Orientation includes two days of training with an educator followed by patient care under a preceptor.
