Technology & Systems Integrator Application Deadline: April 9, 2020 at 5 p.m. Hours: Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Salary: $26.7445/Hourly Characteristics of the Job Under supervision of the Utilities General Manager, performs specialized, highly skilled technical duties in the operation and maintenance of the digital supervisory control, maintenance and asset management and communication and reporting systems of the Public Works Department. Responsible for troubleshooting of treatment plant and pumping station controls, as well as development of analytical tools and supervisory reports as requested. Exercises independent judgement in determining work methods after receiving written or oral instructions. Examples of Duties Other duties may be assigned. Run diagnostic programs; troubleshoot computer equipment; communicate with technology vendors by telephone, fax or email and perform repairs. Assist in development and implementation of alternative and more efficient work flows that take advantage of technology. Keep current with software products and computer issues by researching vendor websites and attending relevant classes. Instruct staff in use and troubleshooting of equipment, hardware and software. Work in conjunction with the Information Technology (IT) Division to leverage technology solutions for departmental work needs. Advise public works administration on purchasing and budgeting recommendations. Develop sequel (SQL) code and queries in support of supervisory analysis and data acquisition. Create, maintain and extract data of a highly confidential nature. Create, maintain and report on documentation related to policies and procedures. Promote communication and adequate information flow. Provide timely, accurate responses to requests for service and information. REQUIREMENTS Training and Experience Associate's degree in information technology from an accredited college or technical school and two (2) years of related experience within the information technology industry, preferably in database administration or GIS; or equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of computer operating systems, hardware installation, modification and maintenance; various computer components and peripherals; software applications; internet access and e-mail systems; English grammar, spelling and arithmetic; and telephone etiquette. Knowledge of relational database manipulation or general programming (VB.NET, SQL, HTML, Java, PHP, etc.) and general public works policies, methods, procedures, services and terminology preferred. Skill in computer operations and diagnostics; using tools related to installation, repair and maintenance of computer equipment; loading software; working with electronic components and machines; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, officials and the general public; typing with accuracy and speed; and performing detailed, accurate work. Ability to learn work flows and adapt technology to best serve the application; research technical problems and identify solutions in use of the department's technology and equipment; understand the operation of a wide variety of software; maintain absolute confidentiality of the materials and situations encountered on the job; exercise initiative, tact and mature independent judgment within area of responsibility; read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals; follow complex instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; and compile data into meaningful reports. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
