Job Description:
Case Worker Job Description: Bethany for Children & Families is
expanding our Direct Family Interventions program which provides
in-home services to families in Rock Island and Mercer counties in
Illinois, and Scott County in Iowa, who have communication or
relationship problems. A Bethany Case worker works with the family
over a six to nine-month period, teaching the basic skills
necessary to properly parent and/or supervise children. Families
are given various community resources to increase appropriate,
safe, family function and reduce or eliminate future charges of
neglect or abuse, or police contacts. This early intervention
program works with families with the goal of stabilization and
preservation of the family unit and individuals within. Case
Workers provide in-home case management and advocacy services,
assisting families to locate needed resources and one-on-one
parenting support. An ideal candidate Possess a Bachelor's degree
in social work or a human services field. Salary 40k - 50k Case
Worker provide therapeutic services to address:
- Parenting skills
- Social skills development
- Problem-solving skills
- Behavior management
- Communication skills
- Life skills (budgeting, cleaning, cooking)
- Anger management
- Relationship problems
- Referrals to community resources, and
- Advocacy Case Worker Performance Objectives:
- Assessing the appropriateness of requests for services and
interpreting the agency's services effectively to the client.
- Formulating a preliminary and tentative assessment of clients'
functions and reviewing appropriate information with the Supervisor
to develop an effective case plan/treatment plan commensurate with
the clients' needs.
- Managing a workload which involves decision-making and
accountability; using time in an organized and structured manner to
provide services to clients assigned to his/her caseload and meet
performance objectives.
- Maintaining case records, submitting required reports,
providing statistical data, etc., in accordance with the agency's
expectations.
- Meeting regularly with the Program Supervisor to discuss
clinical issues, issues surrounding service delivery, and critical
issues requiring supervisory consent or referral source
authority.
- Developing and utilizing knowledge of agency and community
resources appropriate to established case plans, and assessing the
usefulness to individual client's needs.
- Being readily accessible to his/her clients for meetings
according to their schedule or contract requirements at
client-convenient times of the day or night.
- Demonstrating a capacity and initiative to increase
professional skills and knowledge.
- Maintaining a professional relationship with peers and other
service referral resources and providers.
- Attending meetings related to agency services and/or staff
training.
- Furthering the mission of the agency by actively participating
in the accomplishment of the agency's strategic plan.
- Performing other duties as assigned. Case Worker Position
Qualifications:
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in social work or a human services
field.
- Have relevant social service experience.
- Have the ability to fulfill all of the regulatory requirements
for employees of Child Welfare Agencies as are prescribed in
Illinois Administrative Rule and Procedure, including successful
completion of the criminal background investigation, clearance from
the Illinois CANTS, Health Care Registry, and Iowa Registry, and
certification as a driver of children by the Illinois Department of
Children and Family Services.
- Have the ability to provide own transportation in performing
job requirements, including a valid driver's license and acceptable
insurance coverage.
- Meet the eligibility requirements for a case management
position as assigned by the contracting state department of Iowa or
Illinois.
- Maintain a flexible schedule in response to program needs or
caseload assignments; must be willing to work evenings as
needed.
- Have sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences in
the community.
- Effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Demonstrate computer proficiency.
- Possess strong organizational skills.
- Be committed to the agency's vision, mission, philosophy,
structure, and goals with an ability to work as part of a treatment
team.
- Be able to lift 30 lbs.
- Be able to carry car seats to and from the office and
children's home.
- Be able to physically attend to young children and infants.
Case Worker Benefits:
