Job Description:
The Infant Adoption Case Worker (Adoption Worker) works with
adoptive parents and birth parents facilitating a wide variety of
services. The primary responsibility includes assessing the
adoptive parents to ensure the safety of the children that are
placed in these homes. The adoption worker is the main source of
contact for both adoptive parents and birthparents for adoption
education and acts as a mediator between adoptive parents and birth
parents. The position requires excellent communication skills and
the ability to handle emotionally difficult situations.This
position is a part-time, as-needed position, fielding adoption
inquiries and case management as the need arises.Infant Adoption
Case Worker Performance Objectives:Recruit and screen families as
potential adoptive parents.Perform appropriate family assessments
on potential adoptive parents by completing home studies and annual
renewals.Complete the required paperwork and maintain adoptive
parent files and records per regulations and procedures.Complete
the required paperwork to assist with finalizing an adoption and
providing post placement supervision.Maintain a professional
relationship with hospital personnel, attorneys, and other
resources when working with birth parents. Extensive work with
birth parents providing support and assist with facilitating their
adoption plan.Completing paperwork in a concise and timely
manner.Possible search and reunions and coordinating correspondence
between birth parents and adoptive parents.Infant Adoption Case
Worker Qualifications:A Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services
fieldPrior experience in domestic adoption preferredA valid
driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable
transportationSensitivity to cultural differences in the
communityEffective communication skills, orally and in writingA
commitment to the agency's vision, mission, philosophy, structure,
and goals with an ability to work as part of a multi-person
