Description SummaryThe Grant Accountant applies principles of accounting and is the subject matter expert for a federal grant/Partnership grant. This includes maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing financial statements and completing all grant-related functions. Utilizes QuickBooks Accounting software to process data and complete reports and other documentation.What you get to do in the role:Grant Processing and Reporting (30%)Prepare grant reports for review by the CFO, executive leadership, Policy Council, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.Monitor coding and allocations between programs and the grant. Assist the director and other staff when necessary, regarding proper coding of expenses and federal policies regarding purchases.Generate, audit and file payable reports along with supporting documentation.Reconcile and analyze all related general ledger journals, ledgers, and/or other records on a monthly basis for accuracy of coding by program and department, to post transfers for grant revenue, and any other items related to the grant.Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, company procedures, and rules and regulations regarding proper use of State and Federal Grant funds.Assist with any and all audit preparation and needs.Oversee period close processes to include monthly, quarterly, and annual timeframes.Budgeting (25%):Assist in preparing and tracking annual budgets.Take part in annual budget committee meetings along with Chief Financial Officer.Enter detailed budgets into the accounting software by segment to prepare monthly, detailed financial reports by program, site, and department.Prepare budgeting cost analysis to be utilized during budget planning.Account Analysis and Financial Reporting (25%)Review financial data to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting.Utilize accounting software and other approved financial systems to prepare and analyze monthly, detailed financial reports.Prepare detailed notes to explain variances to Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Policy Council, and management.Analyze budget and actual financial data to prepare financial expenditure projections and assist with financial analysis as needed.Other (20%)Assist or prepare correspondence and performs other clerical functions as related to the company/program.Attend meetings, trainings, professional development, etc. as needed or requested for the company/program.Serve as backup for CFO as related to the program and assist CFO in special projects as related to the company/program Requirements - High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required- Strong familiarity with Federal Funds- Expertise in Federal Funding- Accounting Principles experience highly desired- General familiarity with financial reporting- Well-founded grasp of account analysis- Proven knowledge of budgeting- Comprehensive knowledge of grant accounting- Foundational knowledge in Accounting Theory- Recent and relevant accounting experience- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics- Current and relevant ERP system experience- Competent with spreadsheets and databases- Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines- Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision- Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
